Volunteering

There are many ways to get involved and gain experience of working in a theatre.

Our theatrical society Tyne Theatre Productions organise performances and musical productions. As a part of the Preservation Trust, all funds raised from the shows contribute to the preservation of the theatre. Our hugely successful productions include Pirates of Penzance, Sweeney Todd, Oklahoma! and Little Shop of Horrors.

Tyne Theatre & Opera House has a team of volunteers who help with the maintenance and restoration of the building around the year. Their help with refurbishing the seats, general maintenance and also working as Tyne Theatre Productions crew is very important. We are looking for handy people to help the fix team with various jobs around the theatre.

The Trustees of the Preservation Trust and volunteers arrange regular theatre tours for a range of groups of all ages. You can be trained to give a tour, steward the tours or otherwise help with this important and fascinating aspect of the Trust’s work.

You can also volunteer as a front of house host for Tyne Theatre Productions shows and help us sell programmes, collect donations, answer questions and direct customers around the theatre.
