In the Night Garden Live is coming to the Tyne Theatre & Opera House in 2024!

Igglepiggle, Upsy Daisy, Makka Pakka and friends are back in their fun-filled live show Igglepiggle’s Busy Day! Join Igglepiggle as he looks for his friends in the Night Garden by following their funny sounds until he finds them all!

You’ll see all your favourite characters beautifully brought to life with full-size costumes, magical puppets, and enchanting music. This show lasts just under an hour and your little ones will be amazed when they see a very special visit from the amazing flying Pinky Ponk.

Now in its 15th year, In the Night Garden Live is one of the UK’s favourite family events. Over 1.1 million people have seen it so far and it gets 4.8 out of 5 stars based on 13,653 parents’ reviews.

There are other shows for young children, but as The Independent wrote,“there’s nothing quite like In the Night Garden Live.”

The Tyne Theatre and Opera House box office is open for phone and in-person bookings 10am-3:30pm Mon-Fri (or until show start if there is a performance that evening + an hour before weekend performances).

What time should I arrive?

The show time listed on your ticket is the show start time. The doors will open one hour prior to this time. We would advise arriving with plenty of time to have your tickets scanned, use our facilities, purchase refreshments and take your seats. The earlier you arrive, the smoother your entrance will be.

Can I bring a buggy?

We ask that wherever possible, you please leave your buggy at home. Our venue is currently undergoing some building work, meaning that some areas of the venue are closed and storage space for buggies is extremely limited.

If you do need to bring your buggy, we ask that you arrive at least 30 minutes before the show. Please follow signs or ask front of house staff to point you to our buggy storage space to the right of the main entrance, before entering the theatre and having your tickets scanned. All buggies will need to be folded to their smallest possible size so that we can store them and then can be collected after the show.

Do you have a cloakroom?

We do not have a cloakroom. All personal belongings must remain with you, so please refrain from bringing large bags or anything that may obstruct the aisle or space between seats.

How long is the show?

The show is approximately one hour long, with no interval.

What refreshments are available?

We have a wide range of refreshments available from multiple outlets which can be purchased prior to the show. Any refreshments bought at the theatre help support our independent venue.
Please note, the majority of our bars accept card payments only.

What if someone in my group is overwhelmed?

We have a quiet room that can be accessed on the grand circle level for anybody feeling unsettled or overwhelmed. Please speak to a member of front of house staff if you’d like access or for any other help.

Anything else?

We ask that you please tidy up after yourselves after the performance, including putting any rubbish in the bins provided. This helps our hardworking front of house team get the auditorium ready in time for the next show.
