Following two successful international conferences in 2023 and 2024, we are now launching our biggest and most ambitious conference to date. Titled Opera Unplugged: Practice, Performance & Workshops, Learning from the Past & Planning for the Future this will be an opportunity to speak, meet and perform – to talk about techniques, acoustics, traditional crafts, staging – bringing the past back to the future and making opera relevant in today’s society.
A number of different activities will be hosted in our Grade 1 listed theatre over a 5 day period from Tuesday 2nd to Saturday 6th September 2025.
We are now gathering proposals for papers, performances, workshops, demonstrations and discussions from opera companies, theatre historians, academics, musicians, musicologists and traditional opera craftspeople.
