COVID-19 Update

Coronavirus (COVID-19) – Last updated 20 March 2020 16:00 hrs

In response to the Prime Minister’s announcement for us all to avoid non-essential social contact, we are liaising with promoters and organisers of our forthcoming events.

We will keep you informed of the status of all shows as soon as possible and post all updates, as we receive them, on the individual event pages here (as well as on our social media channels). Ticket holders will also be notified via email or phone if a show is rescheduled or cancelled.

As I am sure you can appreciate, we are inundated with calls and messages, so please bear with us during this busy and challenging time. Please rest assured that the safety of our customers and staff is our highest priority and we thank you in advance for your patience.

If a show is rescheduled: Tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled date. We do encourage ticket holders to hold onto their tickets where possible in this turbulent time for the events industry – which needs your support now, more than ever. However, If you are unable to attend the rescheduled date, refunds will be available from your point of purchase.

If you booked directly with our box office, please send refund requests to ‘info@tynetheatreandoperahouse.uk’ with the subject ‘Refund request – show title’ and please have patience as we work to process your refund as soon as possible.

If a show is cancelled: Refunds will be available from your point of purchase. If you booked through our ticketing agent Eventim, your payment card will be refunded automatically. If you booked via our box office we will be in touch to issue your refund (please bear with us at this busy time). If you booked through another ticketing agent, please contact them with any enquiries regarding your refund.

In addition, we have taken the decision to close the Box Office and our admin office will be open limited hours that are subject to change. If you have any enquiries that are not answered by the information on our website or for any other reason need to contact the theatre, we kindly ask that you email info@tynetheatreandoperahouse.uk – this will ensure you get the quickest response. If you are unable to contact us via email, you can ring the office on 0191 243 1171 – we are currently open limited hours which are subject to change, so you may need to leave a message.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your support, understanding and patience during these challenging times.

Update 14th March 2020 19.00 hrs

We are following advice regarding the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) in the UK and monitoring the situation closely.  Please note that at the moment there are no plans to restrict the operation of the Theatre and all events (unless specified) are going ahead as planned. Should anything change, we will post updates on our website and social media channels as soon as possible and also inform ticket holders of any changes.

Our staff are following the government guidelines to restrict the spread of the virus and we ask that all customers and visitors are aware of the guidelines too:

  • wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
  • always wash your hands when you get home or into work
  • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • put used tissues in the bin straight away and wash your hands afterwards
  • try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
  • avoid touching your face, eyes, nose, mouth if your hands are unclean
