Tyne Theatre Productions present: The Full Monty

Wed 11 - Sat 14 March 2020 | 7.00pm

Tyne Theatre Productions present The Full Monty – The Broadway Musical in March 2020!

This will be Tyne Theatre Production Company’s eighth show produced and performed for the benefit of the Tyne Theatre & Opera House Preservation Trust. We have had over 200 volunteers involved in our previous shows, Pirates of Penzance (2015), Sweeney Todd (2016), Oklahoma! (2016), Little Shop of Horrors (2017), West Side Story (2017), Into the Woods (2018) and Guys and Dolls (2019).

The Full Monty – The Broadway Musical is adapted from the well-known 1997 film The Full Monty. The Broadway version tells the story of six unemployed American steelworkers who, low on cash and prospects, set out to present a strip act at a local club. They must deal with their fears, insecurities and personal challenges to work together and go the “Full Monty”. The ten-time Tony nominated show is full of heart, humour, toe-tapping engaging melodies and the most highly anticipated closing number of any show.

As we follow the group of Buffalo steelworkers, we see them get the idea of making some quick cash through stripping in a show after enviously spying on their enthusiastic wives at a “Girls’ Night Out”. Themes of friendship, courage, relationships and masculinity in a changing world unfold as we watch how the group struggles to overcome their individual fears and “Let It Go” in the ultimate finale. This promises to be a funny musical send-up of gender expectations and stereotypes – the show is R Rated.

The talented cast for Full Monty includes former ITV Tyne Tees newsreader Kenny Toal, who will be playing the role of Jerry Lukowski.

Leon Gill, who you may recognize from Love Island as the father of Amber Gill (2019 winner), is also starring. Leon is no stranger to The Full Monty and having been involved in musical theatre for many years, will be playing the role of Noah (Horse) T. Simmons for the fifth time!

In addition, the cast of Full Monty also includes; Luke Martin playing Ethan Girard, Alan Davison playing Harold Nichols, Andy Barton playing Dave Bukatinsky and Anthony Heslop playing Malcolm Macgregor.

All funds raised from these performances will go towards the Tyne Theatre Preservation Trust to restore and preserve our beautiful Victorian Building.
