The Tyne Theatre and Opera House currently have job vacancies in two roles; details of both can be found below.

STAGE CREW (Casual Hours)

Purpose of Role

To provide technical support to the stage management team for the smooth running of events at the Tyne Theatre and Opera House.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the stage management team to deliver professional, efficient event production
  • Load and unload trucks
  • Build and dismantle stages and sets
  • Rigg and de rigg sound, lighting and AV equipment
  • Work at height
  • Work to all Tyne Theatre and Opera House Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure all areas are kept clean and hazard free
  • Check for health & safety issues and seek assistance if required
  • Undertake additional duties as may be required

Role Requirements

Essential

  • 18 years of age or over
  • Available to work flexible hours
  • Punctual, presentable and polite
  • Knowledge of Theatre layout and working practices
  • Experience of rigging sound, lighting and AV equipment
  • Physically fit
  • Health & Safety awareness/training
  • Experience of team working
  • Good communication skills
  • Quick, quiet and calm

Desirable

  • Knowledge of or interest in the arts
  • Flexibility to work at short notice
  • Driving license

Salary

£10.00 per hour

STAGE DOOR (Casual Hours)

Purpose of Role

To provide a high level of customer service by delivering a knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming service to artists, visiting companies, staff and visitors to the Tyne Theatre and Opera House.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors with a high level of customer service
  • Deal with enquiries professionally and efficiently
  • Take and communicate messages and deliveries clearly and efficiently using various communication systems
  • Ensure that all artists, visiting companies, staff and visitors sign in and out of the building
  • Implement and comply with Theatre Health & safety policies and procedures including emergency evacuation
  • Ensure the security of the building, people and property
  • Follow unlocking, locking up and turning off procedures
  • Ensure stage door areas are kept clean, tidy, fully stocked and welcoming
  • Issue dressing room keys, towels etc and ensure they are returned to stage door
  • Undertake additional duties as may be required

Salary

£ 8.91 per hour
