Panto update

We’ve been working hard with our panto team to make some important decisions regarding the status of our 2020 Pantomime, Sleeping Beauty. Unfortunately, we do not feel it’s possible to go ahead and deliver the show that we had planned as we would have to restrict capacity beyond what has already been sold and make significant changes to casting and the show itself. We have big plans for the show and want you all to be able to see it as we had intended – for this reason we will be postponing Sleeping Beauty until 2021. For those with tickets, we will be in touch to transfer over your tickets to next year (either on the same, or a different day if preferred). We’re excited to bring you Sleeping Beauty in all it’s glory in 2021.

So does the Tyne Theatre have a pantomime this Christmas?… Oh yes it does!

It’s clear that Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a traditional Pantomime. For those who want to see a show this December at the Tyne Theatre, we’re pleased to announce that we will be hosting a socially distanced Pantomime; Jack and the Beanstalk, for ONE WEEK ONLY. Climb up our socially distanced Beanstalk this December for a GIANT of a show starring the hilarious Charlie Richmond as Simple Simon and a cast of some of the North East’s best panto talent. We’ve been working incredibly hard to ensure that this can be done safely for our venue staff, panto cast/crew and audiences. This year’s production is a specially designed 75 minute rib-tickling festive treat for all the family, with a reduced capacity and no interval to minimise crowding. There will be socially distanced seating in groups of 2, 4 and 6. Bookings must be from the same household or support bubble, in line with current restrictions. We’re also taking many other safety measures, details of which can be found on our website.

Tickets for Jack and the Beanstalk will go on general sale on Monday 19th October. We will also be sending a pre-sale link to those that had booked for Sleeping Beauty this year via Eventim. If you booked directly with the theatre’s box office and would like access to the pre-sale link, please get in touch on info@tynetheatreandoperahouse.uk and we will send it out to you. We only have a very limited number of tickets for this year’s panto, so if you want to join in the fun and laughter this Christmas, book early to avoid disappointment.

We can’t wait to welcome our panto audiences into our Theatre this December.
