Why your donation matters
The history of the theatre has been one of versatility and enterprise to keep the building in use. However the years of changing hands between different management companies and owners between 1990’s and 2000’s diminished the theatre’s resilience and resources. Luckily, in March 2008, Newcastle City Council was able to purchase the Theatre and later that year transfer the freehold ownership to the Preservation Trust.
The theatre became fully independent in 2015 with our own management company, and our small, dedicated team are working extremely hard to undo decades of neglect to the fabric of the building. We earn crucial income from ticket and bar sales, but with no regular Council support or other external funding, we still rely on donations and the kind support of our friends and audiences.
When you visit
We organise bucket collections for the Preservation Trust after most events. Please consider making a contribution when leaving after the show. There is also a beautiful interactive donation display in the foyer – pop a pound in and see our stage come to life! There’s a contactless card donation device in the foyer if you have no cash.
You can also make a text donation – just text TYNETHEATRE 3 to 70450 to donate £3. Texts cost £3 plus one standard rate message.
